What is SSC?
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organization under which the Government of India is to Appoint staff for different posts applicable in the various Ministries and Departments of Government of India and Subordinate Offices.
This commission is a Holding office of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) which consists of a Chairman, two Members, and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations. His/Her value is equal to the level/tier of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
Existence of Staff Selection Commission (SSC)
The committee in the Parliament suggested the establishment of a Service Selection Commission in its 47th report (1967–68) for conducting examinations to Appoint Group-B Candidates.
Later, in the (DoPT) amendment, on 4 November 1975 Government of India created an agency called the Subordinate Service Commission. On 26 September 1977, the Subordinate Services Commission was re-crowned as Staff Selection Commission(SSC).
The purpose of the Staff Selection Commission was remodeled by the Government of India through the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and on 21 May 1999. Then the new purpose of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) arose from 1 June 1999. Every year SSC administers the SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination for recruiters of Group-B officers to various government jobs.

Some FAQs Related to SSC
Applicants who are in the age b/w 18 and 27 years can be allowed for SSC CHSL 10+2.
Applicants must have passed 12th Standard (from any stream) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
SSC exam is carried in three stages or Tiers or levels —
Level-1 = Computer-based written examination.
Level-2 = Descriptive test
Level-3 = Typing Test/Skill Test
There will be negative marking for incorrect answers in Level 1,i.e. 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
